Register at: https://mediaalliance.secure.force.com/default/CnP_PaaS_EVT__ExternalRegistrationPage?event_id=a1zAJ00000000MOYAY

This production will take place in Freedom Square, a two-minute walk from the Sanctuary (which is the rain location).

A theatrical production about the dirt under our feet by Arm-of-the-Sea Theater, an arts ensemble that fuses visual storytelling with live music in contemporary works of mask and puppet theater.

Where does food “come from” and from what is it made? Here’s a lively primer for urban bumpkins and upcountry gardeners alike. Fusing cutting-edge science and age-old puppetry, DIRT takes audiences on an extravagant journey of discovery into the Great Underneath—revealing the epic alchemy of plants, the fungi’s dance of mutual delight, and the microbes’ herculean labors. Fifty minutes in length, performed by a five- member company, and featuring live music and a myriad of puppet figures ranging from 12 inches to 12 feet tall, the show reminds earthly residents of all ages how profoundly essential the ground beneath their feet is.

This production will take place in Freedom Square, a two-minute walk from the Sanctuary (which is the rain location).

***Please note that for everyone’s safety, we are following Covid protocols that include requirements that all attendees show proof of vaccination or a recent test for entry, and wear a mask. We will notify ticket holders if the protocols change.

STOP FUNDING CLIMATE CHAOS Demonstration

1 Academy Park, Albany, NY 12207 (across from Albany Capital Building)

Please RSVP at: https://mailchi.mp/119af2f6f2e9/stopfundingclimatechaos

"For too long, the financial services sector has enabled the world’s fossil fuel addiction. It is now time for financial service providers to accelerate the shift to renewables. The scientific and moral imperative is clear: there must be no new investment in fossil fuel expansion, including production, infrastructure and exploration." - António Guterres, UN Secretary-General.

This demonstration is to speak to Big Finance on the moral imperative to stop funding fossil fuel projects... it is directed at TD Bank, which continues to finance new fossil fuel infrastructure with billions of dollars, all while science is telling us to reverse course immediately to prevent climate catastrophe. Turning off the money pipeline is one of the most effective ways to decrease the input of greenhouse gases into the environment.

Climate Change: Heading for Extinction (And What To Do About It)

We are in a global climate emergency. Despite COVID, and lockdowns, and stalled economic activities, 2021 was still the 7th warmest year on record, the top three being 2016, 2019, and 2020. According to a recent study from the International Union for Conservation of Nature, we've entered into Earth's 6th mass extinction. The UN Secretary-General has said, "This is a code red for humanity. The alarm bells are deafening and the evidence is irrefutable." We face the real possibility that human society may not survive these next 80 years. We must act now.

Extinction Rebellion is a non-violent global climate movement that seeks to confront our impending ecological and societal collapse while we still can. Extinction Rebellion demands that governments:
1) tell the truth about the climate emergency;
2) enact legally binding policies to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2025;
3) create a truly democratic system of governance so we the people can oversee the changes needed;
4) ensure a just transition that prioritizes the most vulnerable communities and indigenous sovereignty.

Hear about what Extinction Rebellion is doing to tackle the climate emergency and learn how to join in the movement in the Capital Region. Together we can dare to dream for a better future for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren.

Join us on Zoom on Monday, October 17th at 6:30 pm ET for an overview of our group and an opportunity to become part of the rebellion. Contact us at:

BioArt Visionary w/ Miriam Simun “Corporeal Entanglements All The Way Down“

Register at: https://mediaalliance.secure.force.com/default/CnP_PaaS_EVT__ExternalRegistrationPage?event_id=a1zAJ00000000OFYAY

Join us for this virtual session of the series BioArt Visionary @CBIS, presented in conjunction with RPI’s Center for Biotechnology, the ARTS department & the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, and the Sanctuary’s NATURE Lab.

Miriam Simun works at the intersection of ecology, technology and the body, spanning multiple formats including video, performance, installation, writing, and communal sensorial experiences. Of chief concern is the collision of bodies (human and non) with rapidly evolving techno-ecosystems. If collision can be understood to be a form of disturbance (in the ecological sense), then in disturbance we move through damage to an opportunity for renewal. Simun’s centers the sensorial as imperative for this renewal.
